Whenever I think of St. Patrick’s Day, I think of early morning parades — I did spend my college years in Louisiana, after all — and Irish drinks… namely Guinness and Jameson.
It’s a random combination, especially since I don’t particularly enjoy Guinness or Jameson on their own and never drank them at a parade.
However, I love using them in dishes.
And these milkshakes? Well, they’d make a spectacular St. Patrick’s Day dessert… or pick-me-up during the day, if you’re into that kind of thing.

Since I was pregnant when these milkshakes were made, my husband played taste tester… and he drank both in record time. And he is not the kind of person who drink milkshakes if he doesn’t like them, so you can take it on good authority that the final product is g-o-o-d.
I’ve always loved the combination of Guinness and chocolate, and I figured this combination would be a winner in a milkshake. And then spiking the half-and-half with a little Jameson before whipping it was a nice touch, too.
